Delicious Tonkatsu Bento Box
This bento box includes tender tonkatsu, which is pork cutlet coated in panko breadcrumbs and fried to golden perfection. The meal is complemented by steamed rice, pickled vegetables, and a side of salad, making it a complete and nutritious option.
Ingredients
- 2 boneless pork chops
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 2 cups cooked white rice
- Pickled vegetables (such as pickled radish or cucumber)
- 1 cup shredded cabbage or mixed greens
- Tonkatsu sauce for serving
- Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pork: Season the pork chops with salt and pepper. Pound them to an even thickness for uniform cooking.
- Coat the Pork: Dredge each pork chop in flour, dip in the beaten egg, and then coat with panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Fry the Tonkatsu: In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the pork chops for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
