Easy Sweet Soy Glazed Carrots

These carrots are cooked until tender and then coated in a sweet and savory glaze. The recipe takes about 20 minutes to prepare and serves 4 people.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound baby carrots or sliced regular carrots
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Carrots: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the carrots for about 5-7 minutes until tender but still crisp. Drain and set aside.
  2. Make the Glaze: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and garlic powder. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is bubbling.
  3. Glaze the Carrots: Add the cooked carrots to the skillet and toss to coat them in the glaze. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the carrots are heated through and well coated.
  4. Season: Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  5. Serve: Transfer the glazed carrots to a serving dish and garnish with chopped green onions if desired. Serve warm.
