Easy Gyoza Dumplings Recipe
These gyoza dumplings are filled with a mixture of ground pork, cabbage, and seasonings, then pan-fried to achieve a crispy texture. The recipe takes about 1 hour from start to finish and yields approximately 24 dumplings.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup hot water
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil for frying
- Dipping sauce: 1/4 cup soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon chili oil (optional)
Instructions
- Make the Dough: In a bowl, combine the flour and hot water. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped cabbage, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- Form the Dumplings: Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each piece into a thin circle. Place a small spoonful of filling in the center of each circle. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal.
- Cook the Dumplings: Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the dumplings in the skillet and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Add a splash of water to the skillet, cover, and steam for another 5 minutes until cooked through.
- Make the Dipping Sauce: In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, rice vinegar, and chili oil if using.
- Serve: Arrange the gyoza on a plate and serve hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
