Delicious Chocolate-Dipped Madeleines

These madeleines are light and airy, with a hint of lemon zest to brighten the flavor. The chocolate dip adds a sweet contrast, making them an irresistible snack. The recipe yields about 24 madeleines and takes approximately 30 minutes to prepare and bake.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for chocolate dip)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a madeleine pan with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Beat Eggs and Sugar: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until pale and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Stir in the melted butter, vanilla extract, and lemon zest.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. Fill the Pan: Spoon the batter into the prepared madeleine pan, filling each mold about 3/4 full.
  6. Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers spring back when lightly touched. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
  7. Prepare Chocolate Dip: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with the vegetable oil in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  8. Dip Madeleines: Once the madeleines are cool, dip the rounded side into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off. Place them on parchment paper to set.
