Ingredients

  • 1 medium head of cabbage, chopped
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey with the chopped onion and minced garlic until the meat is fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cooked meat mixture, cooked rice, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, oregano, and paprika. Mix well.
  4. Layer the Casserole: In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the chopped cabbage. Spread half of the meat mixture over the cabbage. Repeat with the remaining cabbage and meat mixture.
  5. Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes. Remove the foil, sprinkle cheese on top if using, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  6. Serve: Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm.
