Description

These French dip sliders are made with tender deli roast beef, topped with melted provolone cheese and caramelized onions, all sandwiched between buttery sweet rolls. Baked until golden brown and served with a warm au jus for dipping, they make for an irresistible treat. The recipe takes about 30 minutes from preparation to baking and serves 12 sliders.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls or slider buns
  • 1 pound deli sliced roast beef
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 packet onion soup mix
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Crispy fried onions for garnish (optional)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Onions: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tablespoon of butter. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Prepare the Sliders: In a baking dish, place the bottom halves of the Hawaiian rolls. Layer the sliced roast beef evenly over the rolls, followed by the caramelized onions and provolone cheese. Place the top halves of the rolls on top.
  4. Mix Au Jus: In a bowl, combine the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, onion soup mix, garlic powder, thyme, and 1 tablespoon of softened butter.
  5. Bake: Pour the au jus mixture evenly over the assembled sliders. Cover tightly with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the sliders are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with crispy fried onions and fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm with au jus for dipping.
